8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2012 Lexus IS 350?
The NHTSA has issued 14 recalls affecting the 2012 Lexus IS 350: 7 air bag recalls, 5 fuel pump recalls, and 2 fuel-system recalls. These recalls primarily impact the air bag inflator (risk of inflator rupture), fuel pump assemblies (risk of pump failure and engine stall), and fuel delivery components (risk of fuel leaks and possible fire). Nalley Lexus Smyrna will check your VIN and provide free factory recall repairs using OEM parts; to schedule service with our certified technicians, click the link or call our service team.
How do I check if my 2012 Lexus IS 350 has an open recall?
You can check your recall status by entering your VIN at NHTSA.gov or by contacting Nalley Lexus Smyrna for a free VIN check. NHTSA records list the specific recalls by component; our service advisors will verify open campaigns and advise you on next steps when you bring your vehicle in. If you prefer, schedule service and we will check the VIN free of charge and explain available remedies and timelines.
How much does a 2012 Lexus IS 350 recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs are performed free of charge to the vehicle owner under the recall campaign. Nalley Lexus Smyrna performs recall work at no cost using OEM parts and factory-trained technicians; incidental services not related to the recall may incur charges, which we communicate in advance. We also offer service financing if you need additional repairs beyond the recall — learn more on our financing page or ask when you schedule appointment.
Can I get my 2012 Lexus IS 350 recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be completed by an authorized dealer to ensure the correct OEM parts and factory procedures are used; Nalley Lexus Smyrna is a certified Lexus franchise qualified to perform these repairs. Independent shops cannot always access OEM recall parts or the manufacturer’s repair procedures; using a franchise dealer preserves warranty and ensures proper documentation of completed recalls. To protect safety and resale value, bring your vehicle to Nalley Lexus Smyrna — schedule service today and ask about our current service specials.
How long does a 2012 Lexus IS 350 recall repair take?
Most recall repairs take between 30 minutes and a few hours, but some parts may require longer if replacement components need ordering. Nalley Lexus Smyrna will provide an estimated turnaround when you schedule appointment; any wait times will be communicated up front and we offer loaner options when available. Interim notices for certain remedies (such as fuel pump updates) have been issued by Toyota; if interim work is required we will explain temporary measures and schedule the final repair as soon as parts are available.
Does an open recall affect my 2012 Lexus IS 350's trade-in or resale value?
Yes — unresolved recalls can reduce trade-in offers and deter private buyers, since many buyers and dealers check NHTSA recall records before purchase. Resolving recalls at a certified dealer like Nalley Lexus Smyrna protects resale value by documenting that manufacturer-mandated safety work was completed using OEM parts. If you plan to sell or trade, visit our trade-in page at sell-your-car-online.htm after you have recall repairs completed for the best appraisal outcome.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2012 Lexus IS 350 recall?
Open safety recalls can affect inspections and insurance coverage in some states because they relate to critical safety systems like airbags and fuel delivery. NHTSA recall items such as air bag inflator defects and fuel leaks present tangible safety risks; completing recall repairs at Nalley Lexus Smyrna ensures compliance and reduces inspection or insurance issues. To avoid inspection complications, schedule service now; ask about our service specials and available service financing if you need it.
