Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2017 Lexus RX 450h?
The NHTSA has issued 2 recalls affecting the 2017 Lexus RX 450h related to air bag components that may impair deployment. One recall addresses a possible improper weld in the driver’s knee air bag inflator that can allow inflation gas to escape, increasing injury risk. The second recall involves air bag pressure and acceleration sensors that may fail and prevent side/curtain or front airbags from deploying in a crash. Both recalls require dealer inspection and replacement of affected components at no charge under the manufacturer’s recall program.
How do I check if my 2017 Lexus RX 450h has an open recall?
You can check your vehicle by entering your VIN on NHTSA.gov or bring the vehicle to Nalley Lexus Smyrna and we will check for free. VIN checks on NHTSA.gov provide official recall status and recall identification numbers that our technicians use to verify needed repairs. If you prefer in-person help, call or visit our service center and we will confirm open recalls and arrange a convenient appointment.
How much does a 2017 Lexus RX 450h recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs for the listed NHTSA items are free of charge to the vehicle owner when performed at an authorized dealer like Nalley Lexus Smyrna. There is no cost for parts or labor for these recall remedies; if additional maintenance is suggested, we will explain any optional services and available discounts. Ask about our service financing options so you can get any recommended maintenance now and pay later if needed.
Can I get my 2017 Lexus RX 450h recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be completed by an authorized dealer to ensure OEM parts and factory repair procedures are used; Nalley Lexus Smyrna is your certified Lexus franchise dealer offering factory-trained technicians and OEM diagnostic tools. Independent shops cannot always access manufacturer serial-number-based replacement parts or official repair records, which can affect warranty and safety compliance. For guaranteed, free recall repairs and record updates, please schedule service with our certified team.
How long does a 2017 Lexus RX 450h recall repair take?
Most air bag component inspections or sensor replacements for these recalls are often completed within a few hours, but exact times vary by part availability and diagnostic results. When you schedule appointment, we provide an estimated turnaround and will contact you if additional time is required. Check current incentives and wait conveniences on our service specials page and ask about loaner vehicles or shuttle options when you drop off your vehicle.
Does an open recall affect my 2017 Lexus RX 450h's trade-in or resale value?
An unresolved recall can lower buyer confidence and may reduce trade-in or resale value because many dealers and private buyers verify recall completion before purchase. Having recalls completed at Nalley Lexus Smyrna documents the repair with manufacturer records and protects resale value and title clarity; start your appraisal at our trade-in page.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2017 Lexus RX 450h recall?
Open safety recalls do not always trigger a failed state inspection, but safety-related air bag recalls can be cited in certain jurisdictions and may affect insurance claims or registration checks. Resolving recalls through an authorized dealer like Nalley Lexus Smyrna ensures your vehicle meets safety standards and reduces risk during inspections and insurance events.
