Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2018 Lexus ES 300h?
The NHTSA has issued 5 recalls affecting the 2018 Lexus ES 300h, covering Forward Collision Avoidance (three related PCS entries), a Brake Booster Pump campaign, and an Engine casting issue. These recalls involve the Pre-Collision System (PCS) potentially applying brakes unexpectedly, a brake booster pump that can reduce stability control and braking assist, and engine casting porosity that can cause coolant leaks and overheating. All recall repairs are performed free of charge by the manufacturer at a certified dealer like Nalley Lexus Smyrna and are intended to restore safe operation.
How do I check if my 2018 Lexus ES 300h has an open recall?
You can verify open recalls by checking the VIN at NHTSA.gov or bringing your VIN to Nalley Lexus Smyrna for a free check. Call the NHTSA or use their online VIN lookup for authoritative data, or let our factory-trained technicians confirm status when you schedule service at our Smyrna, GA service center. We will always advise if a manufacturer recall applies and coordinate the free repair using OEM parts and factory diagnostics.
How much does a 2018 Lexus ES 300h recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs are free of charge to the vehicle owner when completed at an authorized dealer like Nalley Lexus Smyrna. Examples from the NHTSA record: PCS component replacements, brake booster pump inspection or replacement, and full engine inspections or replacement are provided at no cost under the recall programs. If complementary maintenance or unrelated repairs are recommended, we will disclose costs up front and you can review available offers and service specials or ask about our dealership service financing options to pay later.
Can I get my 2018 Lexus ES 300h recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be performed by an authorized dealer to ensure manufacturer records, OEM parts, and proper warranty coverage are maintained; a certified franchise dealer is the recommended and proper choice. Nalley Lexus Smyrna uses factory-trained technicians, OEM diagnostic tools, and manufacturer parts so recall repairs are completed correctly and recorded with the manufacturer. If you prefer, independent shops can do some services but recall campaigns and the free manufacturer repair process require dealer coordination for compliance and to preserve safety coverage.
How long does a 2018 Lexus ES 300h recall repair take?
Repair times vary by recall: many PCS and brake pump inspections or part replacements can be completed in a few hours, while engine replacement may take longer depending on parts availability. At Nalley Lexus Smyrna we strive for fast turnaround and will give you a realistic estimate when you schedule appointment; most common recall repairs are completed same-day or within 1–2 business days. If parts are required from the manufacturer, we will order them and keep you informed; free loaner options or shuttle services may be available depending on scheduling and service specials.
Does an open recall affect my 2018 Lexus ES 300h's trade-in or resale value?
Yes. An unresolved recall can reduce resale and trade-in value because many buyers and dealers check NHTSA records before purchase. Having recalls completed at Nalley Lexus Smyrna documents that the manufacturer repairs were performed with OEM parts, which preserves vehicle value and buyer confidence; you can start a trade appraisal at our trade-in page. Resolving recalls promptly also avoids potential complications with insurance claims and state inspections that sometimes review safety-related defects.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2018 Lexus ES 300h recall?
Open recalls can lead to failed inspections in some states if the defect affects emissions or critical safety systems; addressing recalls reduces that risk. The NHTSA recall records list PCS braking, brake booster pump, and engine coolant leak risks that may be reviewed during safety checks—getting the free repairs at a certified dealer prevents inspection issues. Contact Nalley Lexus Smyrna or schedule service if you’re concerned about inspection readiness; we also offer service financing to help you get repairs done now and pay later.
