8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2018 Lexus LC 500?
The NHTSA has recorded 16 recalls that can affect the 2018 Lexus LC 500, including 11 related to the fuel pump, 4 related to the fuel tank system, and 1 related to stability control and brake booster pump performance. Summary: multiple fuel pump recalls warn that pump failures can cause engine stall and, in a separate recall for some V8 engines, possible fuel leaks that can increase fire risk; a stability control recall notes possible deactivation of vehicle stability control and loss of braking assist. Remedy: manufacturer remedies include replacement of affected high-pressure fuel pumps, fuel pump assemblies, or inspection and replacement of the brake booster pump at no cost to the owner. Authority: these items are documented by the NHTSA; Nalley Lexus Smyrna can verify your vehicle against NHTSA records and perform any required work for free.
How do I check if my 2018 Lexus LC 500 has an open recall?
You can check your VIN at NHTSA.gov or call Lexus customer service to confirm open recalls for the 2018 Lexus LC 500. Bring your VIN to Nalley Lexus Smyrna and we will check NHTSA records and the manufacturer's system at no charge. If a recall is open, we will explain the defect, the safety consequences, and the free corrective action available from the manufacturer. To get priority service, you may schedule service online and reference that you are contacting us about an NHTSA/recall check.
How much does a 2018 Lexus LC 500 recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs for the 2018 Lexus LC 500 are free of charge to the owner when performed at an authorized dealer. Nalley Lexus Smyrna uses OEM parts and factory-trained technicians for all recall work, so there are no out-of-pocket costs for the covered remedy. If additional non-recall maintenance is requested, we can discuss payment options and service financing so you can get service now and pay later. Check our current service specials for complementary offers for unrelated maintenance while your recall repair is completed.
Can I get my 2018 Lexus LC 500 recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs should be performed by an authorized franchise dealer to guarantee use of OEM parts and manufacturer-approved procedures; Nalley Lexus Smyrna is the local certified Lexus dealer for recall work. While some independent shops may perform similar repairs, only a franchise dealer can guarantee OEM parts, access to manufacturer remedies, and documented service that satisfies the recall program. Performing recall repairs through Nalley Lexus Smyrna ensures official documentation with the manufacturer and maintains warranty and resale protections. To arrange factory-authorized recall service, schedule service with our certified team and ask about service financing if needed.
How long does a 2018 Lexus LC 500 recall repair take?
Repair times vary by recall type; most fuel pump or pump assembly replacements are completed within a few hours to a full day, while some inspections or parts-dependent repairs may take longer. Nalley Lexus Smyrna will provide a time estimate when you schedule appointment and we confirm parts availability. If remedy parts are temporarily limited, we will add your vehicle to the priority list and keep you informed—this was the approach used for fuel pump remedy rollouts documented by the NHTSA. We also offer courtesy transportation options and short-term loaner cars where available; contact our Service Portal at Service Portal for details.
Does an open recall affect my 2018 Lexus LC 500's trade-in or resale value?
Yes — unresolved recalls can reduce trade-in offers and make private buyers or other dealers hesitant to purchase the vehicle. Resolving recall work at Nalley Lexus Smyrna protects resale value and provides documented manufacturer service history that buyers and appraisers trust. We can confirm the recall status and, once completed, update the vehicle’s service records; you can begin a trade appraisal at our trade-in page. Addressing recalls promptly also helps with future inspections and insurance considerations, and is recommended for safety and value preservation.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2018 Lexus LC 500 recall?
Open recalls are not always a state inspection failure, but safety-related defects—like a stability control or braking assist issue—can cause a failed inspection if they affect required systems. The NHTSA documents that stability control and brake booster pump defects may increase crash risk and must be repaired under the recall program. To avoid inspection or insurance complications, we recommend you have open recalls resolved at Nalley Lexus Smyrna before inspection or sale. Use our online schedule service system and review current service specials to combine inspection prep with recall repairs; service financing is available if needed.
