Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2018 Lexus RX 450h?
The NHTSA has issued 2 recalls affecting the 2018 Lexus RX 450h that involve air bag components. One recall covers a possible improper weld in the driver’s knee air bag inflator that can allow inflation gas to escape and increase the risk of injury in a crash. The other recall involves possible failure of air bag pressure or acceleration sensors that can prevent front or side/curtain air bags from deploying. Both recalls are documented by NHTSA and Toyota; corrective repairs are performed free of charge by authorized dealers.
How do I check if my 2018 Lexus RX 450h has an open recall?
You can check by entering your VIN on NHTSA.gov or by contacting Nalley Lexus Smyrna; we will also check your VIN for free when you bring your vehicle in. If you prefer a dealer check, call Nalley Lexus Smyrna or use our schedule service page to book a free VIN recall inspection. We will also cross-reference Toyota recall campaign numbers (GLA, JLA, J0F) during the inspection to confirm coverage and next steps.
How much does a 2018 Lexus RX 450h recall repair cost?
Recall repairs for the 2018 Lexus RX 450h are free of charge under the manufacturer’s recall program. Nalley Lexus Smyrna performs the recall repair using OEM parts and factory-trained technicians at no cost to the customer. If you have concerns about additional maintenance, ask about our current service specials and available service financing to get work done now and pay later.
Can I get my 2018 Lexus RX 450h recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Manufacturer recall repairs must be completed by a certified franchise dealer to ensure OEM parts, proper diagnostics, and warranty compliance. Nalley Lexus Smyrna is a certified Lexus franchise dealer with factory-trained technicians and OEM diagnostic tools required to perform official recall repairs. Completing a recall at an independent shop may not satisfy the manufacturer’s requirements, could affect warranty or insurance claims, and is why we recommend scheduling a dealer appointment via schedule service.
How long does a 2018 Lexus RX 450h recall repair take?
Most recall repairs for the 2018 Lexus RX 450h typically take between one and a few hours, but exact times depend on parts and inspection findings. When you arrive at Nalley Lexus Smyrna we will inspect the air bag components and, if parts are required, advise on expected turnaround and any temporary transportation options. To reduce wait time, schedule appointment online and review our service specials and shuttle/loaner options.
Does an open recall affect my 2018 Lexus RX 450h's trade-in or resale value?
An unresolved recall can negatively affect trade-in value and resale because buyers and dealers check NHTSA records and vehicle history reports for open recalls. Having recall repairs completed at Nalley Lexus Smyrna documents that the vehicle is safe and up to manufacturer standards, which helps protect resale or trade-in value. If you’re ready to trade, visit our trade-in page at sell-your-car-online.htm after your recall repair to maximize value and buyer confidence.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2018 Lexus RX 450h recall?
Open recalls are safety-related but state inspection rules vary; some inspections and insurers may flag unresolved recalls as a safety concern. Resolving recalls at Nalley Lexus Smyrna removes potential inspection or insurance complications and ensures the vehicle meets manufacturer safety standards. If you have inspection or insurance questions, we can document completed recall repairs and provide the service records you need when you schedule service.
