Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2022 Lexus ES 300h?
The NHTSA records show 5 recall campaigns related to the Lexus ES300h family that may affect owners and should be checked by VIN. Those campaigns include three for Forward Collision Avoidance (pre-collision system activation), one for a brake booster pump loss of braking assist, and one engine casting porosity issue that can cause coolant leaks and overheating. While some campaigns target earlier model years (2013–2015, 2019, 2020), owners of a 2022 Lexus ES 300h should confirm applicability by VIN; our service team can check for you and perform any required work free of charge.
How do I check if my 2022 Lexus ES 300h has an open recall?
You can check recalls by VIN on NHTSA.gov or bring your vehicle to our dealership for a free VIN-based lookup. Call us or bring your VIN to Nalley Lexus Smyrna and our factory-trained technicians will confirm any open campaigns and explain the next steps. If you’re ready, schedule service online and we’ll verify recalls at no charge; we also have service financing options if needed.
How much does a 2022 Lexus ES 300h recall repair cost?
Manufacturer-authorized recall repairs are performed free of charge to the owner. Nalley Lexus Smyrna uses OEM parts and factory-trained technicians to complete recall repairs at no cost under the manufacturer campaign. For non-recall maintenance or related repairs, ask about our current service specials and financing through our parts and service team.
Can I get my 2022 Lexus ES 300h recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be performed by an authorized franchise dealer to ensure OEM parts, proper documentation, and free manufacturer coverage. Independent shops may not be able to access factory parts or submit the warranty paperwork required by the manufacturer and NHTSA. Bring your vehicle to Nalley Lexus Smyrna — your local certified Lexus dealer — to ensure the recall repair is completed correctly and recorded with NHTSA.
How long does a 2022 Lexus ES 300h recall repair take?
Repair times vary by campaign: typical inspections or component replacements range from one hour to a few days if parts or engine replacement are required. For example, PCS module replacements are usually quick, while engine replacement (if needed) takes longer and is scheduled promptly to minimize downtime. To minimize wait time, schedule appointment online; we’ll provide an estimated turnaround and offer loaner or shuttle options when available.
Does an open recall affect my 2022 Lexus ES 300h's trade-in or resale value?
Yes — unresolved recalls can lower trade-in offers and deter private buyers because they signal unresolved safety issues. Having recalls addressed at a certified dealer like Nalley Lexus Smyrna protects resale value and provides documented proof of completed manufacturer repairs. When you’re ready to sell or trade, visit our appraisal page to get an accurate value after recalls are cleared: sell your car online.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2022 Lexus ES 300h recall?
Some states or inspections may flag unresolved safety recalls; while not every inspection will automatically fail a vehicle for an open recall, safety-related recalls can affect roadworthiness and insurance claims. Resolving recalls at Nalley Lexus Smyrna ensures your vehicle meets manufacturer safety standards and minimizes inspection or insurance complications. If you need a quick check before inspection, schedule service and we will confirm any open recalls and advise on required actions.

Corrective Action

Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the engine including the engine block, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began April 3, 2020. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371 or Lexus at 1-800-255-3987. Toyota's number for this recall is 20TA04. Lexus' number for this recall is 20LA02.
