6 common questions answered
Is the oil filter replaced every time a 2022 Lexus RC 350 has its oil changed?Yes, the oil filter is replaced alongside the oil when the scheduled oil and filter service is performed on a 2022 Lexus RC 350.
The manufacturer’s published maintenance schedule calls for oil filter replacement every 10,000 miles. Replacing both together allows the filter to capture debris from the fresh oil cycle rather than carrying a loaded filter into another change.
- Filter matched to the engine
- New gasket or washer where applicable
- Leak check after the engine runs
What is included in an oil filter replacement on a 2022 Lexus RC 350?It includes a filter matched to the engine, a new drain plug gasket or washer where used, and a leak check at the filter seal after the engine runs.
The filter holds debris carried by the oil, while the renewed sealing material supports a proper seal during the service. The final leak check confirms the filter seal after the work is completed.
- Engine-matched oil filter
- New drain plug sealing washer or gasket where applicable
- Post-service filter-seal inspection
What happens if the oil filter on a 2022 Lexus RC 350 is not replaced? If the filter loads with debris and is not replaced, its bypass valve can open and allow unfiltered oil to circulate through the engine.
A loaded filter does not stop the engine getting oil; it stops the engine getting filtered oil, which is worse in a quiet way. The manufacturer’s schedule determines when replacement is due, while service history helps confirm whether it was completed.
- Debris remains trapped in the loaded filter
- The bypass valve may open
- Oil can circulate without filtration
Does a 2022 Lexus RC 350 need a specific oil filter?Yes, the filter must be matched to the 3.5-liter, six-cylinder engine in the 2022 Lexus RC 350, and filters are not interchangeable across engines.
The correct filter supports the engine’s lubrication system and its debris-capturing function. A service professional selects the filter for the engine actually fitted to the vehicle without relying on a visually similar component.
- 3.5-liter engine
- Six-cylinder V6 layout
- Filter matched to that engine
Can the oil be changed on a 2022 Lexus RC 350 without changing the filter? The oil can be changed separately, but the scheduled oil and filter service replaces the filter with the oil.
Keeping a loaded filter for another oil cycle can allow the bypass valve to open and unfiltered oil to circulate. The manufacturer’s published schedule calls for replacing the oil filter every 10,000 miles, so service history and the maintenance schedule guide the decision.
- Filter replacement accompanies scheduled service
- Debris remains in an old filter
- Maintenance history helps guide timing
