2022 Lexus RX 450hL Air Filter in Smyrna, GA

The 2022 Lexus RX 450hL engine air filter sits in a sealed airbox inside the engine bay.

On the 2022 Lexus RX 450hL, the intake airbox is mounted in the engine compartment and houses the rectangular engine air filter element. Access typically involves unclipping or unscrewing the airbox lid. Nalley Lexus Smyrna in Smyrna, GA can inspect the airbox for debris and ensure the seal is tight to prevent unmetered air.

• Engine bay airbox with removable lid
• Visual check for debris, leaves, or damaged seal
• OEM-spec filter to match intake flow and fitment

The 2022 Lexus RX 450hL cabin air filter is typically located behind the glove box in the HVAC intake.

Most Lexus RX models place the cabin microfilter behind the glove compartment, accessible after removing a trim panel or glove box damper. This filter screens dust, pollen, and odors before air reaches the vents. Our technicians at Nalley Lexus Smyrna service this location routinely and can replace the element without damaging interior clips.

• Behind-glove-box access panel for cabin filter
• Protects HVAC system and in-cabin air quality
• Careful clip and trim handling to avoid breakage

The engine air filter protects the hybrid V6 intake, while the cabin air filter cleans air for passengers and the HVAC.

In the 2022 Lexus RX 450hL, the engine air filter sits in the engine bay to keep dust from entering the combustion air path, helping preserve power and fuel economy. The cabin air filter lives in the HVAC intake to reduce pollen and particulates inside the cabin. Both are service items but serve different systems.

• Engine filter: intake protection for performance and efficiency
• Cabin filter: HVAC and passenger air quality
• Different locations, sizes, and media types

Common signs include reduced power or mpg for the engine filter and weak airflow or musty odors for the cabin filter.

In a 2022 Lexus RX 450hL, a dirty engine filter can cause sluggish acceleration or lower fuel economy. A clogged cabin filter may limit vent airflow, increase fan noise, or add odors and haze to the windshield. Nalley Lexus Smyrna can confirm the cause and replace only whats needed.

• Engine: hesitation, rough idle, or worse mpg
• Cabin: weak HVAC airflow, musty smell, foggy glass
• Visual inspection of filter media for dirt loading

The engine filter is often DIY-friendly, while the cabin filter may require trim removal best handled by a technician.

Many owners can access the engine airbox on a 2022 Lexus RX 450hL with basic tools. The cabin filter, however, typically sits behind the glove box and involves clips and panels. Nalley Lexus Smyrna adds an intake housing check, MAF visual, correct Lexus-spec filter, and proper disposal during service.
