6 common questions answered
Is the oil filter replaced every time a 2025 Lexus RC has its oil changed? The oil filter should be replaced with the oil when the service is performed.
A fresh filter gives the new oil a clean surface for capturing debris. A loaded filter can open its bypass valve, allowing oil to circulate without filtration. The exact maintenance timing is determined by the manufacturer’s schedule and the vehicle’s service history.
- Filter matched to the fitted engine
- Drain plug gasket or washer renewed where used
- Filter seal checked for leaks after the engine runs
What is included in an oil filter replacement on a 2025 Lexus RC?The service includes an engine-matched filter, a new drain plug gasket or washer where used, and a post-run leak check.
The replacement filter is selected for the engine fitted to the vehicle. After the engine runs, the filter seal is inspected for leaks. Booking the service at Nalley Lexus Smyrna pairs the filter replacement with the vehicle’s oil service.
- Filter matched to the engine specification
- New drain plug sealing part where the engine uses one
- Leak inspection at the filter seal
What happens if the oil filter on a 2025 Lexus RC is not replaced?A loaded filter may open its bypass valve, allowing oil to circulate without being filtered.
The engine may still receive oil, but it is no longer receiving the same filtration. Debris can continue moving with the oil, while an oil-pressure warning or an unusually noisy engine may indicate a need for attention. An inspection and service history review help determine the appropriate next step.
- Oil can circulate through the bypass valve
- Debris may remain in circulation
- Oil can darken quickly after a change
Does a 2025 Lexus RC need a specific oil filter?Yes, the filter is matched to the engine, and filters are not interchangeable across engines.
The 2025 Lexus RC is offered with engines ranging from 1,998 to 4,969 cc and four to eight cylinders. The filter chosen must correspond to the engine actually fitted to the vehicle rather than simply the model name. Nalley Lexus Smyrna can match the filter during the oil service.
- Engine displacement range: 1,998 to 4,969 cc
- Engine cylinder range: four to eight
- Filter selection based on the fitted engine
Can the oil be changed on a 2025 Lexus RC without changing the filter?Oil can be changed without replacing the filter, but replacing the filter with the oil keeps filtration fresh.
The filter holds debris collected from the oil, and its bypass valve can open once the filter loads. That allows oil to circulate unfiltered, so carrying the same filter across two changes can reduce filtration. The manufacturer’s schedule, inspection findings, and service history determine the broader maintenance decision.
- Filter captures debris carried by engine oil
- Loaded filters can trigger bypass operation
- Replacement restores a clean filtering surface
