What the service covers on the 2026 Lexus RXThe oil change service for the 2026 Lexus RX starts with draining the used engine oil and refilling the engine with the grade specified by the manufacturer. A new oil filter is installed to help remove contaminants from the oil as it circulates. The oil life monitor is reset, and the underhood fluid levels are checked during the visit.
Engine oil gradually loses its additive package and its ability to carry heat and debris, even before it looks dirty. That is why the manufacturer's schedule is based on mileage and time rather than appearance. For the 2026 Lexus RX, the published interval is every 5,000 miles for both engine oil and the oil filter.
An oil-change reminder light, mileage beyond the last service, dark or low oil on the dipstick, or a ticking or louder engine note at startup can indicate that service is due. Scheduling service helps replace the oil and filter and logs the visit in the vehicle's history.
